Lacrosse

Lacrosse player running on the field HSZ

Lacrosse is a typical college sport, especially in Canada. However over time this exotic sport has spread beyond the borders of North America and is steadily finding more supporters. According to the international regulations ten male players – twelve in women's lacrosse – face each other. Lacrosse is played with sticks with mesh at the end made out of metal and plastic. The sticks are used to pass a hard tennisball-sized rubber ball between the field players to then score in the opposing team's goal. Aside from a feeling for the ball and corresponding stick technique players need a high level of awareness, tactical understanding, and the ability to run. Lacrosse training with Aachen University Sports is offered in collaboration with VfL 1905 Aachen e. V. Women and men train separately. Protective equipment is only required in men's lacrosse due to the different regulations.
