Target Group and Prerequisites

This offer is targeted towards students and staff looking for ways to relax in order to approach daily stressful situations more calmly.

Content and Objectives

With the creation of autogenic training Johannes Heinrich Schultz developed a relaxation technique that is supposed to be applicable regardless of one's cultural environment and worldview. Healthy individuals can apply autogenic training to improve general quality of life, to increase performance ability when learning, and to improve athletic performance in sports. The technique's effectiveness is linked to the assumption that a calm physical state can elicit a calming of one's mental state, which is the opposite of the common belief that inner peace releases physical tension. The basic level consists of six exercises for the following areas: experiencing heaviness, experiencing warmth, heart regulation, breathing regulation, stomach warmth, and cool forehead.
