RWTH Aachen Ski and Snowboard Instructor Training

University Sports Aachen offers ski and snowboard instructor training. This training allows good snow athletes to hold skiing and snowboarding lessons at University Sports. The training is at the Deutscher Ski Verband's basic level. This year our training was recognized for the first time by the WSV. Those who only complete instructor training, will receive accreditation for Grundstufe 1. Those who complete both the instructor training and further training in the same winter will receive accreditation for Grundstufe 2 as long as they receive the necessary average grade.

The theoretical and practical training encompasses pedagogy, methodology, technique, mechanics, and snow and avalanche awareness.
The practical training gives equal attention to technique and methodology training.

Course Location

The course is held in Arosa, Switzerland. Arosa is ski area that guarantees snow and offers over 70 kilometers of slopes and conditions suitable for training. Using the Weißhornbahn near to the hotel, you can be transported up to between 1,739 and 2,653 meters. Additionally, the Arosa ski area will be connected to the Lenzerheide ski area this coming season. A winter paradise with 225 kilometers of slopes will be formed by two ski areas.

We stay at the Basic Hotel Arosa at the heart of Arosa, just a few minutes by foot to the Tschuggen- or Weißhornbahn. We stay in four-bed rooms, which are each equipped with a toilet and sink, shower, and hairdryer. In order not to overlook relaxation during the training there is a sauna and a bar available in the house.

It makes the most sense to participate in further training in December but this is not a requirement. There you are prepared for the instructor training and meet the instructors in advance. Furthermore, you will see if your skiing or snowboarding skills are sufficient.
If you are unsure or just have additional questions, take a look at the SNOWSport Team website. You can meet other ski and snowboard instructors at the montly meetups on the first Wednesday of the month. Just sign up for the SNOWSport Team mailing list to be kept updated.

A password is needed to register. You can request if from the representative or Uli Weber.
