„Move More, Feel Better“ Continues Into the 2. Round!
On April 17, 18 selected participants came together on the premises of the University Sports Center for the kick-off event, part of the European project Active Campus Europe (ACE). 16 European universities from seven countries have joined together to develop and sustainably implement concepts to increase movement in everyday student life.
The first ten-week practical phase of the project took place last semester. Since the beginning of the year 2018, it has gone, in each case at the local start of semester, into the second round at all locations. From the far north, at the University of Tampere, Finland, to Europe’s south, at Portugal’s University of Minho, students are fighting their inner couch potatoes. All locations share a common goal: to increase the active minutes of the participants during their day-to-day student lives. Running courses and strengthening and mobilizing sports courses form the basis and aim primarily to (re-)awaken joy in movement. Getting off a bus stop earlier, taking a detour on the way home, getting the bike ready for the summer, activating the step counter on the phone or taking active study breaks - these everyday things are even more important. Only this way can participants sustainably put to use what they have learned. Aachen’s group of 18 participants is in a great mood and highly motivated to collect even more active minutes than the other partner universities.
