Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would be very pleased to welcome you to the 34th Lousberg Run.

Every year, thousands of enthusiastic runners compete here to conquer the 5,555-meter course. With its ups and downs, the Lousberg presents even experienced athletes with a special challenge. But it is not something that citizens of the city of Aachen, students and staff of Aachen's universities shy away from. Together they climb Aachen's Teufelsberg and celebrate their success, hard work and ambition after crossing the finish line.

The Aachen cult run not only connects Aachen's universities and the city, but also science and business with culture and society. The unique mixture of these areas is what makes our region and life here so successful and exciting. Running events like these are of great importance to us. The Lousberg Run is identity-forming and image-building not only for the Aachen universities, but also for the city of Aachen. Aachen and our universities simply belong together.

The RWTH Aachen University Sports Center, the staff of the student sports department and the residents of the Rütscher Straße towers have created the conditions for this traditional run on Aachen's legendary mountain with professional dedication and commitment.

In addition to the sporting activities, an entertaining supporting program accompanies the event. I would like to express my special thanks to the volunteer helpers, whose outstanding commitment ensures that this event runs smoothly.

I wish all participants and guests a lot of fun and joy as well as maximum success and a successful, satisfying running experience.

Sibylle Keupen

Mayor

Dear students of RWTH Aachen University, dear runners, dear guests,

I would like to welcome you to the Lousberg Run powered by STAWAG 2023!

For 34 years, the Lousberg Run has been an integral part of RWTH Aachen University and the RWTH University Sports Center (HSZ). The popular big event is not only organized for the students of RWTH and FH Aachen, but for the whole city of Aachen and the Euregio.

The event started years ago as a small student running event. Now we are proud to celebrate the Lousberglauf for the 34th time! As before, the Lousberglauf serves to integrate the university into the life of the city. Thus, a connection is established between the students, employees and alumni of the RWTH on the one hand and the citizens of Aachen on the other hand.

In addition, the Lousberg Run stands for exchange, fun and exciting competitions. Teams of students and employees of the Aachen universities experience a very special exciting, emotional day here and can rejoice together with our guests. The cult event on the Lousberg also helps to build the identity and image of the university.

At this point, I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteer helping hands. Only with your great dedication, diligence and commitment in your free time will the Lousberg Run once again become such a great, impressive event as it is every year! I would also like to thank the residents of the towers in Rütscher Straße, who contribute to a successful event every year with their support. I would also like to sincerely thank the RWTH Aachen University Sports Center for organizing and running the event!

I wish you all, the participants and spectators, a successful, exciting and unforgettable day all under the sign of sports.

Prof. Malte Brettel, Vice Rector for Business and Industry at RWTH Aachen University

Dear students of the University of Applied Sciences and RWTH Aachen, dear runners, dear guests,

every year anew more than 2,000 runners take up the great challenge at the "Öcher" Teufelsberg. This year, the Lousberg Run, powered by STAWAG, invites you for the 34th time! The Aachen cult run is characterized not only by a high degree of athleticism and an inclusive community, but also by a bond between students, employees, alumni and Aachen citizens. The Lousberg Run connects, brings people together and integrates Aachen's universities into city life.

In addition to the willingness to perform and the will to succeed, the Lousberg Run also focuses on fun, enjoyment and the shared experience. By participating in this iconic traditional run, all athletes demonstrate that together, with commitment, ambition and the joy of success, all goals can be achieved!

Of course, special thanks go to all the volunteers and staff of the University Sports Center who organize this run every year and bring more life to the Lousberg.

I wish you, dear athletes, much success and all helpers as well as guests an unforgettable sports event.

Dear students, dear runners, dear spectators,

the Lousberg Run powered by STAWAG will now take place for the 34th time this year! This popular sporting event in Aachen is the result of joint organization between the University Sports Center (HSZ) and the residents of the Rütscher Straße residential towers. I am pleased that we have established such a large, consistent event from the initial event with 20 participants and despite the restriction in the Corona period.

This year, too, the Lousberglauf powered by STAWAG will be fully booked by thousands of professional runners and sports-minded novice runners who will take up the challenge over 5,555 meters. This course has its ups and downs! Half of the course is steadily uphill. The Lousberglauf is unique in Aachen and has cult character: The mixture of top athletic performances, exciting competitions and the atmosphere of a very special mass sports event is what makes it special.

A big thank you goes especially to the many helpers, with whom it is only possible to put an event like this on its feet and make it attractive. Through their voluntary commitment and extraordinary dedication, they ensure that the event runs smoothly every year. On behalf of the HSZ, I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the residents of the Rütscher Straße residential towers, our title sponsor, STAWAG, and the Studierendenwerk der RWTH Aachen.

I wish you an exciting run, the best entertainment on and off the course and hope you enjoy the event.

Peter Lynen

Head of the University Sports Center

Dear students and employees of the Aachen universities, dear runners, dear guests,

On behalf of STAWAG, I am pleased to welcome you to the Lousberg Run powered by STAWAG 2023! For the 34th time, we are looking forward to seeing and supporting the thousands of ambitious athletes at the cult run on the Lousberg! The run is known for its special topography and, with its 5,555-meter course, presents an exciting challenge for participants and guests alike.

We are supporting the Lousberg Run this year for the 20th time as title sponsor and cooperation partner and are enormously pleased to be able to give something back to the students, employees and the city. It is not only important to us to support the event, but also to promote student life in Aachen. Students and employees get the chance to forget their everyday university and work life and have fun on the course. Alongside the course, numerous guests cheer on the participants and rejoice with them as they run through the finish line. This atmosphere is indescribable every year and makes the anticipation for this year even greater!

Of course, we would like to thank all the volunteers for their active support. Without you, such a great event would not even be possible! Special thanks also go to the RWTH Aachen University Sports Center and the residents of the towers in Rütscher Straße for organizing and running the Lousberg Run.

On behalf of STAWAG, I wish all participants and guests lots of success and fun at the Lousberg Run powered by STAWAG 2023!
