Frequently Asked Questions
Here You Can Find Answers to Your Questions
What dates do I need to reserve in my calendar?
First and foremost of course March 18, 2023, the day, when the RWTH Indoor Soccer Cup will be held.
The application period starts on January 31, 2023 and ends on February 13, 2023.
The dates for training opportunities in the hall are assigned to each team and will be communicated separately.
How can I participate?
All information about application and registration can be found in the announcement. In order to have a chance to win a starting place, the following requirements must be met during the registration period:
1. Register online
Please make sure to include the team name.
2. Submit the pdf form "Teamaufstellung."
This can be done by mail or at the HSZ office.
Due to the fresh start after the Corona restrictions of the last years and for organizational reasons, the submission of a creative application will be waived this year. If more teams apply than places available, additional selection criteria will be chosen.
How do I prepare for the tournament with my team?
First, you put together a team consisting of up to twelve players, at least three of whom must be female. Then you register on the HSZ website and enter your possible training dates in the "Teamaufstellung" form. For ideal preparation, it is best to also meet with the team outside of the training opportunities we offer.
What health requirements do I need to fulfill?
If you have a chronic illness we advise seeking a medical opinion about your fitness level. Generally, it is in your best interest to only do competitive sports when you are healthy.
Paramedics will be on site in case a player is injured during the tournament.
Am I insured through the University?
No. Once again, we want to point out that there is no additional insurance coverage when participating in this event, unlike in the other University Sports offers. We strongly recommend acquiring your own insurance protection.
Where can I warm up?
The fitness rooms at Sporthalle Königshügel will be available to warm up in. However, no balls are allowed in these rooms due to the mirrors. Please only use these rooms to warm up since there isn't enough space in the playing area and warming up there could disrupt the tournament.
What should I wear?
As an outfield player:
Athletic clothing; a consistent jersey agreed upon by the team, and gym shoes. We recommend wearing indoor soccer shoes to reduce the risk of injury. However, the most important thing is that the shoes have a flat sole. Running shoes aren't very suitable here. Shinguards can also be helpful. Players who wear glasses are advised to wear sports goggles.
As a goalkeeper:
In contrast to the outfield players goalkeepers must wear a different color to differentiate them from the other players. Otherwise we recommend wearing the same clothing. Goalkeeper gloves are strong recommended to minimize the risk of injury.
As a fan:
Fan clothing! Accessories could include pompons, drums, flags, and banners.
How should I behave as a fan?
Cheer for your team and support them however you can! Warm up your voice! There is enough room for everyone in the stands. Please stand there and do not congregate on the playing field, since there isn't much room and you could disrupt the game. Avoid insulting the opposing team.
Can I drink? What about alcohol?
Soft drinks are allowed of course. However only plastic bottles are allowed in the playing area. You can buy additional drinks in our cafeteria.
Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the playing area. Players are recommended not to drink anything alcoholic while playing. Not only does it increase the risk of injury to yourself but also to your fellow players.
If you are a fan or are done playing in the tournament you are welcome to buy and drink beer at your own discretion.
What about food?
The Women's Soccer Team of the Aachen Universities provides food every year. Participants and spectators can gather up energy to play and cheer in the cafeteria. Refreshments include waffles, openface sandwiches, hot dogs, cakes, and fruit.
What's the difference between a futsal and a regular indoor soccer ball?
Futsals are smaller than indoor soccer balls and have less bounce. This means that technique is in the foreground of the game, which is also quicker.
