We offer supervised fitness training on a total of 1,050 square meters with around 60 endurance machines and 125 strength training stations. In addition to treadmills and ellipitical crosstrainers, we also have recumbent bicycles and rowing machines for you to train your endurance. The Spinner® bikes in the cardio room can be used both during the Spinning® courses and open training. Our strength training area offers equipment to get started with training and more advanced fitness equipment. Additionally, we have a large free weight area in the RWTH GYM, HUMAN SPORT™ circuit training, and a functional training area. Here you can train with the TRX® suspension trainer among other equipment. The training options in the RWTH GYM are rounded out with areas for mobility and stabilization training.

Basic Information

Sports Facilities



You are required to bring the following to your first training and all subsequent trainings: registration confirmation; clean, exclusively indoor gym shoes; an athletic top with shortsleeve sleeves; and a clean handtowel that is at least 50 x 100cm. When using the fitness training card or early training card for the first time, please bring your personal ID and student ID.

Please register at the service desk before each training session using your fitness training card or early training card. Additionally, you can make use of the service to register with your BlueCard or FH Card. The RWTH GYM and University Sports Center does not accept liability in case of loss of the BlueCard or FH Card.

We recommend bringing a large padlock to lock away your personal items, and perhaps a second, large padlock for your valuables at the RWTH GYM. You may only use the water dispenser with a plastic bottle that has an opening of at least 4cm and a maximum height of 22cm.

Special Participation Requirements

In order to take adavantage of open training and further courses in the RWTH GYM you must possess the appropriate card and a valid fitness training card or early training card.
