Content and Objectives
The relaxation process Progressive Muscle Relaxation or PMR was developed about one hundred years ago by the doctor Edmund Jacobson. He recognized the relationship between mental tension and muscle tensions. Through the targeted and conscious strain and relaxation of different muscle groups muscle tension is relieved and one's mental state simultaneously improves. As systematic muscle relaxation training, PME promotes body awareness. It is easy to learn the technique, can be easily applied in daily situations, teaches self perception, and promotes mindfulness.
