ABC Diving Course - Finswimming
Target Group and Requirements
This course is aimed at people who want to learn diving with ABC equipment in the form of swimming fins, masks and snorkles, but do not have any experience. In addition, confident swimming, at least swimming level 3, is a requirement for participation in this course.
Contents and Goals
The course offers the opportunity to gain initial experience in the use of fins, mask and snorkel, that is, ABC equipment. Diving without compressed air diving apparatus is also called apnea diving. Basic skills in this area are an optimal basis for further diving courses and scuba diving.
For all participants of the ABC Diving course fin swimming there is the possibility to take part in a trial scuba diving accompanied by a trainer or diving instructor of the Aachener Tauchclub e.V. at the end of a period. The password for booking the trial scuba diving can be obtained from the supervisor.
The course is conducted according to the guidelines of the Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher VDST. The active participation in the indoor training prepares optimally for all necessary ABC examinations for the VDST GDL Pool Diver/DTSA basic diving certificate. All successfully completed exercises with ABC equipment can be recognized as preliminary work for VDST GDL Pool Diver/DTSA basic diving certificate. The necessary equipment dives to achieve the VDST GDL Pool Diver/DTSA Basic Diving Certificate are not offered within the university sports program. However, there are numerous options for this, which we will be happy to explain to you during the course.
There is an introductory meeting before each course. Participation in the introductory session is obligatory for all registered course participants of the practice. Candidates on the waiting list have the chance to move up if they were present at the introductory session. Other participation requirements include the ability to swim with confidence and a minimum age of 16 years. Those under sixteen are not eligible to participate in college sports offerings.
