Shōtōkan-Ryū (Japanese for „School of the house of pine-waves”) is one of the five most common schools of Karate. Training usually builds on a combination of the fundamentals (“kihon”), forms (“Kata”) and sparring (“kumite”). Kata, a typical component of traditional Japanese martial arts, comprises of choreographed patterns of movement and allows you to focus your mind completely on your body. The movement patterns, which, as well as improving health and fitness, are useful in fights, and the associated body awareness are taught and consolidated in the long term. Primarily, the training aims to teach basic movement principles, which form the foundations for Karate techniques, like chops, kicks, throws and grapples, useful for self-defense and competition or simply gaining a healthy body. We offer courses with instructed trainings and successively building content in the Levels 1 to 3, as well as the possibility to take part independently, open training. Additionally, we periodically high-ranked Karateka for unique weekend seminars.
