A Taste of CHIO at the CHU of RWTH Aachen University

Not only CHIO is hugely popular amongst riding fans. The University Sports Center of RWTH Aachen University (HSZ) knows that Aachen is an equestrian city, which is why it supports student riding teams to organize the Concours Hippique Universitaire (CHU) year for year. CHU is a riding tournament at which participants from 15 different university towns from across Germany can participate.

Attention riding fans! On the Weekend, from October 20 to 22, the CHU is again taking place in Aachen! The famous student equestrian tournament, to which entry for spectators is free, has a special twist. It’s organized as a Knock-Out system and participants compete, in dressage and showjumping, on unfamiliar horses, which are organized by the hosting riding team.

It starts on Saturday morning at 10am in the Albert-Vahle Hall with dressage. The 15 best riders qualify for the second round, of which six will go on to compete in the semifinals. In the afternoon, the first round of show jumping will take place and continue on Sunday morning from about 10am. The jumping finals will take place at 1pm, after which the jumping course will be taken down to make way for the dressage rectangle. The dressage final will surely be one of the highlights of the weekend – challenging and elegant dressage tests await the spectators.

Alongside the sporting part of the event, on Saturday evening the “Rider’s Night” will be taking place in Nizzaallee 2.

The University Sports Center welcomes all riding fans and those who want to become them. The CHU offers fun and excitement in a great atmosphere in the Albert-Vahle-Halle in the Sportpark Soers. Be there, where high spirits come together with discipline and the great cohesion of Germany’s student riders.
