Badminton Level 1

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is targeted towards interested individuals with no playing and training experience or very limited experience from physical education class in school. We recommend participating regularly since course content is successive.

Content

  • Introduction to badminton including the most important rules and principles of the game.
  • Fundamentals of the most important grip positions, racquet acclimitization, and feeling for the shuttlecock as well as zero positions, rotations, and basic tactics
  • Coordination exercises for movement patterns specific to badminton such as swing technique, lunges, running sideways, stepping to hit the shuttlecock, and jumping.
  • Basic elements of the game with forehand and backhand strokes, various ways to accept a serve and third and fourth strokes.
  • Stroke techniques such as forehand clear and drop as underhand and overhead stroke and forehand and backhand drives for flat play in front of the body. Other exercises serve to help with stroke and running certainty, where the focus is on high, far, and short play.

Badminton Level 2

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is targeted towards player, who possess the fundamentals from Level 1 or comparable courses and can play with the shuttlecock in a controlled and targeted manner. Increased interest in intensive movement is desirable.

Content and Objectives

  • To begin with, the principles of stroke and running technique and game technique from Level 1 will be briefly reviewed, to give everyone the same foundation. Some techniques such as backhand strokes with the malay step, smash, and playing on the net are advanced.
  • Focus is placed on promoting players' security when playing and in certain positions. They will further explore different tactics in singles, doubles, and mixed play. Different strokes and the reception of serves form the foundation for successful play.
  • Objectives include solidifying and expanding stroke skills, rounding out movement patters, and improving the ability to play. Numerous complex exercises will be practiced in small groups in order to automate processes and minimize one's own mistakes.

Badminton Level 3

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is targeted towards advanced players who, wherever, have already learned and can apply the contents of the Level 2 Course. The key requirement is the wish to play Badminton intensively, be that in singles, doubles or mixed form. This course is set up to enable sustained improvement in Badminton ability. If you're interested in Badminton and are looking for a physical challenge then this is the right course for you.

You can only participate in the Level 3 training after previously talking with the trainer, registration is password protected!

Content and Objectives

  • Exercises, Rituals: Laying the foundations to exercise the sport of Badminton while avoiding injury as best as possible.
  • Intensive Coordination Exercises:
  • Footwork in the 1 Step and 2 Step areas. Transport steps, routes for effective coverage of the court.
  • Forecourt stroke technique and route options: Cross-court and longline net shot with straight, diagonal, high or low point of contact with the ball
  • Midcourt stroke technique, controlling midcourt: Drive, Sticksmash. Midcourt routes and movement patterns.
  • Back-court backhand stroke technique, controlling backcourt: Backhand strokes as a kinetic chain, long line Drop, cross Drop, long line Clear. Building pressure from backcourt and routes.
  • Singles tactics and training: Half court, whole court, attack and defense. Accessibility of court areas and court coverage
  • Doubles introduction, tactics and training: Attack, defense, assignment of court areas. English Doubles, Badminton specific table-tennis doubles. Practical doubles training

Badminton Level 3

Games

During regular operation, participants have two options, depending on the time and day of the week: Either, they can play in a self-organised manner or under supervision. Online booking is always required.

Target Group and Prerequisites

The games in the sports hall are suitable for players of all proficiency levels. Due to the high demand, the evening and weekend offers are supervised.The Königshügel sports hall has a capacity of 32 participants and the Eckertweg sports hall has a capacity of 24.

Content and Objectives

Technique training is not offered. The goal is simply to have fun. At the beginning of the evening and weekend offers the trainers take care of the "Check in" and the distribution of the players on the respective fields, during the other offers without supervision, participants organize the rotation on the fields amongst themselves. Depending on the number of players, participants will either play singles or doubles.

Material

Material such as shuttlecocks and rackets have to be brought. Nets are to be set up and taken down by the participants. Use of music is not permitted as it may be distrubing to other participants.

Organizational Information

Check In Before Playing

Before playing the booked unit, each participant must sign in with the instructor in order to be checked off on the participant list.
The instructor is available for check in 15 minutes before the unit begins inside the gym.
At Sporthalle Königshügel check in takes place in the stands. At Sporthalle Eckertweg participants must pass through the turnstyle and then sign in with the trainer in the front third of the gym.

Registration for Chargeable Course Operation

Dates in the relevant course period can be booked either all at once or one at a time. The booking option “All Dates” is available from the start of online booking for the course period and the booking option “Individual Date” is unlocked 24 hours before the start of the individual date.
