Never Forget Sports Hall Königshügel Campaign: Start of collection and shipping!
Following the successful start of production, the first souvenirs from the parquet floor of the Königshügel sports hall can now be sent and collected on certain dates from next week. It was only at the beginning of August that the financing phase of the campaign by the RWTH University Sports Center (HSZ) and the Sports Department of the Aachen universities came to an end with an admirable amount of money.
The hall goes, the memory remains. Demolition of the central sports facility of Aachen University Sports is proceeding apace. But the unique mementos from the hall's parquet floor will remain for eternity. Starting next week, the first buyers will even be able to hold them in their hands. The memorabilia can be picked up on three dates at the office of the sports department at the Aachen universities. The three dates for pickup will take place next week and in early September:
Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, between 5 and 7:30 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, between 4 and 5:30 p.m.

Due to the construction site at the old sports hall Königshügel, access to the administration building is only possible via the sports field Königshügel (entrance Prof. Pirlet Straße) or the turning ramp (entrance via Mies-van-der-Rohe Straße 1). If a barrier-free pick-up is desired or a pick-up is not possible at any of the above-mentioned times, the sports department can be contacted by e-mail for a separate appointment: sportreferat@sr.rwth-aachen.de.
All those who have opted for shipping will receive their memento during the first part of September. Until then, everyone will have to be patient. There are also a limited number of remaining mementos still in stock. These can be purchased with cash on the above pick-up dates.
The HSZ and the sports department wish everyone a lot of joy with their souvenir and hope that the floor of the hall will have a nice second life this way.
