What are the FISU World University Games?

The FISU World University Games is an international multi-sport event organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) that brings together university athletes from all over the world. They offer a wide range of summer and winter sports. The games not only provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, but also emphasize the importance of combining academic and sporting achievements, fostering international friendships and promoting global cooperation through sport.

Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen and Berlin are looking forward to hosting the games this summer. From July 16 to 27, 2025, around 8,500 students, athletes and officials from over 150 countries will compete for medals in 18 sports - making it one of the largest multi-sport events in the world in 2025. And there are hardly any better hosts: At these particularly sports-loving locations, the densest university landscape in Europe meets the most sports clubs in Germany.
