Pilates is a gentle and effective workout for both mind and body created by Joseph H. Pilates. Exercises are conducted slowly and precisely through conscious, concentrated breathing. Individual muscle groups are individually stretched and strengthened. Movements are fluid and smooth. The goal is to create a stronger core or power house, thus strengthening the deep muscles located near the spine.
