Running, tracking, keep moving: under this motto, 800 enthusiastic students and employees of the universities in Aachen took part in the first RWTH Campuslauf digital of the University Sports Center (HSZ) from April 30 to May 9.

This year, the Campuslauf was held as a digital running event for the first time. The runners tracked their results themselves using a running app while they were out on their own. Afterwards, the results were transmitted online to the organizer.

"The RWTH Campuslauf digital is intended to give all participants the opportunity to be active together in sports digitally even in these difficult times," says Peter Lynen, Head of the HSZ. At the RWTH Campuslauf digital, top sporting performances were achieved. Laura Laermann won the FunRun in the women's category with a time of 17:37 minutes. Patrick Vonderhagen took first place in the men's category. He ran the distance of 4.6 kilometers in 16:16 minutes. In the FitnessRun, Astrid Devriese was the fastest female runner. She took 37:17 minutes for 9 kilometers. Martin Pelzer won with a time of 30:12 minutes in the men’s category. The team "#runfree Aachen Team 1" took first place in the relay run with a total time of 33:03 minutes. “LäufTT“, the team of the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics was the largest team with 41 finishers, providing the most finishers in all runs combined.

The fact that the Campuslauf was possible again this year was also thanks to Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), the health partner of the HSZ. The TK, with its headquarters on the Campus Melaten, has been supporting the RWTH Campuslauf since 2017.

All information and the full results can be found on the event website.
