Goal Achieved: "Move more, feel better" can look back at a successful project phase!
What started two years ago as a pilot project will reach its conclusion on December 14 this year: The ACE project – Active Campus Europe – can look back at two successful years. As project lead and in cooperation with 16 other universities in 7 European countries, RWTH Aachen University has succeeded in motivating participants to move more in everyday life.
The project lived up to its motto "Move more, feel better". With fitness checks at the beginning, eight-week movement programs with yoga, creative running, pilates, a fitness circuit and a week with fitness checks at the ends, students of RWTH and FH Aachen, as well many other European partner universities were (re-)introduced to fun in sports. The goal of the project was to encourage students to live more active daily lives. Here, the small changes often make the biggest difference: getting off the bus a stop early, walking a detour on the way home or using the step counter on one's phone. Students were encouraged to fight their inner couch potato.
Social sport and movement bring people together. From the far north, the University of Tampere, Finland, to the European south, the University of Minho, Portugal, students stepped up with the aim of living more active daily lives.
At the final public event, guests of the Active Campus Europe-Project will be invited. In the course of the project a "Best Practice Handbook" will be put together, which will offer inactive people great opportunities to live a more active lifestyle, beyond the bounds of university.
