Back on the Ice - Finally Back to Ice Hockey Uni-Cup
The students of Aachen, ice hockey fans and especially the mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and medicine student bodies have been waiting for this day for three years: On December 8, 2022, the Ice Hockey Uni Cup for the thyssenkrupp Trophy can finally take place again. At this iconic event of Aachen University Sports, the ice hockey teams of the student bodies and their cheerleaders compete against each other in exciting contests in icy surroundings.
The Aachen Steelers from the mechanical engineering student body, the ET Lions from the electrical engineering student body and the Medical Strikers from the medical student body will compete in exciting duels on the ice. The Aachen Steelers are the current title holders and will have to do their best to defend their title because the thyssenkrupp Trophy is highly desirable.
The Ice Hockey Uni Cup is primarily characterized by students and employees of the RWTH and FH, who are united by their enthusiasm for ice hockey. Other highlights are the fancy costumes the players come up with every year and, of course, the cheerleading groups. Their costumes and choreographies are coordinated with the mottos of the respective ice hockey teams. However, the mottos remain top secret until game day.
However, the Ice Hockey Uni-Cup is not only about sports and the unique enthusiasm of the fans, but also about more serious matters. Every year, the profits from the event are donated to regional and international organizations. This year, the Aachener Kältehelfer and Right to Play will receive the donation.
For all those who could not get hold of tickets, there will be a live video broadcast of the event for the first time this year. All fans can thus follow the event from home via the Youtube channel of RWTH Aachen University.
