As part of the project "Active Studying - Studying moves! 2.0", the "Active Study Breaks" campaign aims to promote the health of students at RWTH Aachen University. After a particularly successful pilot project on this campaign in summer 2019, the class of "Active Study Breaks" returns further developed.
Due to learning-intensive exam periods in the lecture-free periods, students spend their daily lives predominantly in a seated, rigid posture and are often exposed to enormous time pressure and stress. To counteract possible physical discomfort or posture problems, students are invited to move, relax, and mobilize in small groups with experienced exercise instructors from the HSZ in short exercises in front of the university library. The Vitality Bike also provides an opportunity to get the mind and body working individually. The bike is loaded with small equipment and games such as Frisbee discs, bocce sets, and Viking chess. Thus, the students are offered a wide selection of diverse and varied movement-oriented activities to make their study break more active. Within a very short period of time, active participants are able to concentrate again and become more receptive to learning. This project is supported by the adh and the Techniker Krankenkasse.
Registration for this activity is not required and makes a sporty balance to intensive learning possible for everyone. More information can be found on the website of university sports.
