RWTH Indoor Soccer Cup Powered by BBBank 2017: We Are the Champions!

The atmosphere was outstanding: Numerous fans filled the stands cheering for their team. Firstly, the teams needed to assert themselves in the group phase that consisted of four groups with five teams each. The best teams of each group could participate in the quarter finals, and the winners of these could fight for the trophy in the thrilling final match. The team of the IAEW as well as the team of the Institute for High Voltage Technology offered a suspenseful last match, but in the end the Institute of Power Systems and Power Economics was the great winner with one single goal.

The mixed tournament RWTH Indoor Soccer Cup powered by BBBank is the sportive conclusion of the winter semester. Traditionally, this event is organized by the HSZ and the RWTH FH women's soccer team in the sports hall Königshügel. It is obvious that not only the sporting ambition is in center of the event, but also joy of the game. That is why there is more than one champion: Also fair play, creativity, and team spirit were awarded. The women’s soccer team who were also providing catering was the winner of the hearts for best fair play. The team “Systematisch vors Tor” (Process Systems Engineering) could celebrate their award for the most creative application. And last but not least, the award for the best fans was given to the team of IAESTE.

Now we may already wonder who is going to win the RWTH Indoor Soccer Cup 2018 next year and therefore is going to sing the song “We Are the Champions”.
