Around 1300 Runners Bring the Melaten Campus to Life at the 7th RWTH Campus Run

The Campus Run 2023 kicked off the summer semester at the University Sports Center and the Aachen universities as a major event. Almost 1,300 participating athletes competed highly motivated in three different runs against each other and with each other. In addition to the FunRun, FitnessRun and relay race, there was a colorful supporting program. The main health partner of the event is Techniker Krankenkasse.

There is much to discover along the route. Various RWTH institutes, green nature and the campus sheep make the run a varied experience.

Professor Dr. Alexander Markschies, Chairman of the Rectorate Commission on University Sports, is enthusiastic about so much fun and commitment. The campus run revitalizes the Melaten campus. This great atmosphere made him want to take part himself next year. Professor Dr. Christof Schelthoff, Prorector for Strategic Planning, Financing and Control of the FH Aachen, from the FH Aachen also agrees. He himself took part in the Campus Run 2022 and was impressed by the group dynamics among the participants.

In the future, many institutes will continue to be built on the Melaten campus. But space is also to be created here for sports. An outdoor fitness facility is being planned. Especially among the students, the desire for a university sports location at the Melaten Campus is very high.
