For the first time since Duisburg 1989, the FISU World University Games Summer will return to the Rhine-Ruhr region - 18 sports over twelve days. From July 16 - 27, 2025, over 8,500 athletes and officials from 150 countries will compete for gold, silver and bronze in the cities of Bochum, Duisburg, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Hagen and Berlin. Medals will be awarded for the following 18 sports: 3x3 basketball and 3x3 wheelchair basketball, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, archery, fencing, gymnastics, judo, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, swimming, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, water polo and water jumping.
An event of this size requires many helping hands. Volunteers are now being sought who want to take a look behind the scenes of the event and experience twelve days full of sport, education and culture! Volunteers support the construction of the playing field, conduct interviews in the mixed zone, accompany the winners to the award ceremony, interact with enthusiastic spectators and much more. Volunteers can choose exactly the right role from a wide range of areas. There is a suitable task for everyone.
The minimum volunteer commitment is four days, but volunteers are welcome to volunteer for all twelve days of the event or even for several weeks.
Volunteers benefit from many great advantages. During their assignment, they have access to competitions, are provided with official event clothing, receive food and drinks, a ticket for public transportation and a volunteer certificate. Above all, however, they can expect to make lifelong memories and the opportunity to make new friends from all over the world.
All information about the volunteer program and registration can be found on the FISU World University Games website.
