60 participants traveled to Les Deux Alpes for the DHM

Around 60 snow sports students spent a week in the Les Deux Alpes ski resort to take part in the DHM Snowboard and Freeski 2024. They were accompanied by numerous snow sports enthusiasts who experienced the unique competition atmosphere as part of a week-long sports trip. The DHM Snowboard and Freeski is one of over 50 German university championships organized by the adh each year. The HSZ organizes an annual DHM for the adh.

Three days of training in fog and sunshine

The DHM started on Saturday with the arrival day. From Sunday, it was off to the slopes. The participants had three days to familiarize themselves with the Les Deux Alpes ski resort and train for the competitions. Not easy at all, as the weather conditions on the first day of training were anything but ideal. Nevertheless, they trained as best they could in thick fog. On the second day, the weather was all the better and the anticipation of the competitions grew.

Cross and slopestyle competitions

Things really got underway on Wednesday: first up were the snowboard and ski cross competitions. The athletes try to ski a course with steep bends, bumps and small jumps as quickly as possible. At the same time, they also have to keep an eye on the other participants, as the course is skied by four people at the same time. Round Robin was chosen as the competition mode, with everyone riding against everyone else. The slopestyle discipline continued on Thursday. The participants show off their skills in the fun park. The athletes are judged on the difficulty and execution of their various tricks and jumps. After each competition day, there was a small flower ceremony directly on the mountain. The official award ceremony took place on Thursday evening.

Organization by volunteer SNOW Sport team

A total of 15 snowboarding and skiing enthusiasts traveled from Aachen to take part in the DHM. Some of them were also part of the volunteer organizing team. The organization of the DHM was made possible thanks to the motivated commitment of the sports department of Aachen's universities and the SNOW Sport Team of Aachen University Sports. They supported the HSZ in the organization and implementation of the DHM.
