The traditional run connects the dots
The 35th Lousberglauf will take place on July 3! The starting shot can be eagerly awaited when 2,000 runners take on the 5,555-metre challenge. Our athletes will have to climb 250 meters. The route signs were put up today and the final spurt of running training has begun. Intensive and targeted preparation is essential for a running event and a course like this. Ramon Marställer, event coordinator of the HSZ, particularly emphasizes the tradition of the event. With over 35 years of history, the Lousberglauf connects Aachen's universities with the Aachen population.
The Lousberglauf is also important for the entire city of Aachen
Not only students and staff from Aachen's universities take part in the Lousberglauf. This cult event also creates a sense of identity for the entire city of Aachen. Lara Egyptien, Head of the Sports Department of the City of Aachen, attributes great importance to the event. The Lousberglauf is a highlight for the entire city. Every year there is a great response in the Aachen running scene. The HSZ also works together with the city of Aachen to organize the run.
The event is about more than just athletic performance
Since the beginning of the history of the run, the residents of the Rütscher Straße residential towers have been an important pillar in the organization of the event. Without this student commitment, an event like this would hardly be possible. David Grießner is supervising and coordinating the students from the Rütscher Straße residential towers at the Lousberglauf for the first time this year. He is particularly looking forward to helping out with his fellow students at the run this year. It's great to organize an event like the Lousberglauf with his neighbors in the residential towers. This event is about more than just sporting achievements. It is an event for everyone who enjoys running.
Great support from the Studierendenwerk and three Mensa special dishes
As the responsible body for the halls of residence, the Studierendenwerk works closely with the towers. At the Lousberglauf in July, the Studierendenwerk will also support the event with fruit slices for the runners, catering for the helpers and by providing facilities. The Studierendenwerk also takes part every year with a running team. This year, they are taking part with a large group of 20 employees. Ute von Drathen, Studierendenwerk, said that she was also really looking forward to the run. During the week of the Lousberglauf, the Studierendenwerk is also offering special meals for the event on three days under the motto "Over the mountain with power".
As a long-standing sponsor, STAWAG is a great support
It is not only student commitment that is important. Above all, the support of the sponsor, STAWAG, is particularly important. STAWAG has been a partner of the HSZ for many years and supports other events in addition to the Lousberglauf. Kirsten Haacke, Corporate Communications STAWAG, is looking forward to this year's run. While STAWAG is very future-oriented, they are also happy to uphold traditions such as supporting the Lousberglauf.
The final preparations are underway
The final preparations for the Lousberglauf will continue over the next few weeks. Until then, the route with the signage can be used for training.
