University sports kick off the snow sports season - with the Snowevent and the ALMA Snowevent in Landgraaf

22/10/2025

The snow sports season is traditionally kicked off in the winter semester with events organized by the RWTH Aachen University Sports Center (HSZ). The snow event at SnowWorld Landgraaf on October 21 offered both beginners and advanced ski and snowboard fans the opportunity to show off their skills on the slopes. Another highlight is the ALMA Snowevent, which will take place on November 18 and will focus on international exchange.

Snow event

On October 21, it was time for around 500 ski and snowboard enthusiasts to hit the slopes. With various courses on offer, the HSZ provided a varied program for both beginners and advanced snow sports enthusiasts. To ensure a sustainable journey, the HSZ offered a shared bus ride from Bendplatz, which many students took advantage of. With 4 hours on the slopes, there was plenty of opportunity to practice your first turns in one of the beginners' courses or have fun as a pro in the fun park. There were also workshops where advanced skiers could improve their technique or take on the challenge of a slalom course. The HSZ was actively supported in the courses by the Snow Sport Team Aachen. Those who needed a break after the action-packed descent could relax in the alpine hut or in the beer bar and make new contacts with other participants. The last bus at midnight marked the end of an evening full of fun, sport and fellowship.

ALMA Snowevent

As the snow event generates great enthusiasm among students every year, SnowWolrd Landgraaf will open its doors again on November 18. Every year, the HSZ looks forward to the international cooperation that the ALMA Snowevent brings with it. The special thing about this event is the cooperation between the universities of Aachen, Liège, Maastricht and Hasselt/Diepenbeek. This gives around 600 students the opportunity to acquire new skiing and snowboarding skills as part of the international exchange. The courses offer both beginners and advanced skiers new challenges and are held in English. Participants can also share their experiences and make new international contacts over a hot drink in the alpine hut or beer bar, and the University Sports Center is delighted with the successful opening of the winter sports season! For all snow sports enthusiasts, registration for the ALMA Snowevent starts today - places are limited. If you would like to spend more time practicing on the slopes, you can find out about the extensive range of extra tours on offer and book an unforgettable trip to the snow on the HSZ website.
