The ALMA Snow Event on November 18 was once again a resounding success. The first buses left Bendplatz at 5:30 p.m. and headed for Landgraaf – sustainable travel was particularly important to the HSZ. The necessary equipment was provided by Snowworld Landgraaf, so that the four hours of slope time could be put to immediate use. Not only beginners were able to practice their first turns in numerous courses, but advanced skiers and snowboarders also got their money's worth: with a slalom course and various workshops where participants could put the finishing touches on their skiing and snowboarding techniques, there was something for everyone.
Around 1,000 participants from the universities of Aachen, Maastricht, Liège, and Hasselt/Diepenbeek ventured onto the slopes of Snowworld. The cooperation between the universities in the border triangle not only enabled students to acquire new sporting skills, but also provided numerous opportunities for pleasant conversations, international exchange, and refreshments at the alpine hut or in the beer bar away from the slopes. The HSZ was also actively supported in this snow event by the Snow Sport Team Aachen, which participated in the English-language courses to create a pleasant, international atmosphere.
For anyone who has developed a taste for snow sports through previous snow events, the University Sports Center offers a wide range of extra tours. These trips are aimed specifically at students and employees of RWTH Aachen University and promise sport, fun, and camaraderie. Numerous courses at different levels ensure that both beginners and advanced skiers can receive optimal support, including in the University Sports Center's weekly sports programs.
The University Sports Center is looking forward to an exciting winter sports season!
