Course offered only in the summer semester!
This educational sailing trip with a final practical exam for the Sportküsten¬schifferschein (SKS) (sport-coastal ship-licence) has been offered in the university sports program since 2007 and is aimed at students who have already gained initial experience on board of a seagoing sailing yacht and want to gain more in-depth knowledge when starting out in yachting, especially participants in the theoretical course in winter. Due to the positive feedback and the high demand, we will also offer another course in 2024, in addition to the traditional trip in spring. This other trip is going to be in autumn, which we can offer even cheaper due to the post-season charter price.
The quality of the training is our top priority. And for this we take the necessary time during this two-week cruise, not only to tear off the required miles, but also to practice the maneuvers to be completed in the exam in such a way that they can be safely driven by the entire crew. In addition, we learn how to apply the theoretical knowledge of navigation, seamanship, maritime law and weather in practice. And last but not least, we teach the planning and execution of a joint sailing trip. So we don't just sail "for appearances or the exam":
To make it clear: This is not a vacation trip! You can expect an extensive and demanding training program, where commitment and willingness to learn are required and passing the exam is not a matter of course, but has to be worked hard for. Sailing is trained as a team sport, which lives from the cooperation in the crew and is also only then really fun.
The Baltic Sea is the ideal area for SKS training, because it is not only on your doorstep, but also offers an attractive and varied landscape as well as many important features for training: navigationally challenging waters, buoys and other navigation marks, commercial shipping and at night a correspondingly spectacular light display.
Accommodation on the yacht as well as navigation and sail training in preparation for the practical SKS exam at the end of the trip by an experienced skipper. The 300sm required for the exam will be covered and certified. A night trip is obligatory.
A prerequisite for participation in the practical SKS examination is the sports boat license sea.
Registration and organization of the date for the practical SKS-examination at the end of the trip is done by the participants.
Approximately €240 for meals, port fees, diesel, deposit insurance, and handling and service fees at the base, including gas and mandatory final cleaning.
Sailing Trip 1: 850 euros per person
Sailing Trip 2: 750 euros per person
Prices do not include travel, board cash, and exam fees.
To get to know each other and to organize the journey, the sailing trip and the exam, a pre-meeting will take place. The date will be announced in time after booking, usually eight weeks before the sailing trip.
