Rock Climbing Level 1 ‑ Introduction into Climbing

This course is designed for beginners with little or no experience in climbing and belaying.

Contents and Goals

This course introduces the fundamentals of top-rope climbing. Top-rope climbing is the first step toward a passion for climbing and refers to climbing with a pre-secured rope.

The Level 1 course teaches the essential belaying techniques for top-rope climbing, including the correct use of a belay device and proper tying into a climbing harness. Additionally, it includes a short fall practice session and an introduction to basic climbing techniques.

The course consists of three sessions.

Particularities

The entrance fee for the Tivoli climbing gym is 9 Euros per two-hour session for course participants and must be paid on-site. A climbing harness is included in the price. Climbing shoes can be rented for an additional fee of 3 Euros.

Rock Climbing Level 2 ‑ Climbing Technique 1

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is for climbers who already have experience with top-rope belaying and want to refine their climbing technique.

  • Confident use of a top-rope belay system
  • Recommendation: Minimum Level one climbing experience

Content and Objectives

This course is designed for climbers looking to improve their technique to climb more efficiently, use less energy, and ultimately become stronger. Level two - Climbing Technique one introduces fundamental climbing techniques, including essential footwork, climbing with extended arms, shifting the center of gravity on the wall, and basic gripping techniques.

Rock Climbing Level 3 ‑ Climbing Technique 2

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is for climbers who already have experience with top-rope belaying and want to refine their climbing technique. The course builds on the content of Climbing Level two.

  • Experience with top-rope belaying (e.g., Level one course or belay instruction)
  • Confident climbing at grade five minus / five (onsight)
  • Climbing shoes

Content and Objectives

In this course, we will explore ways to improve your movement on the wall and help you progress to the next climbing grade. Our goal is to expand your movement repertoire. Topics include: twist climbing, dynamic movement on the wall, climbing with an open door, and specialized foot techniques.

Rock Climbing Level 3

Rock Climbing Level 4 ‑ Climbing Technique and Climbing Tactics 3

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is for climbers who are already confident in top-rope belaying, have completed Level two and three, and have mastered fundamental climbing techniques.

  • Experience with top-rope belaying or completion of a Level one course or belay instruction
  • Confident climbing at grade five plus / six minus onsight
  • Climbing shoes
  • Regular climbing experience for at least two to three months
  • Content and Objectives

In this course, you will take your climbing skills to the next level with the help of tactical and mental training. Additionally, we will focus on advanced climbing techniques such as laybacking, stemming, and overhang climbing. This course is also an excellent preparation for the lead climbing course. If you are unsure whether you meet the prerequisites for lead climbing, this course is the right choice for you.

Rock Climbing Level 5 ‑ Lead Climbing

Target Group and Prerequisites

  • Confident use of a belay device
  • Confident climbing at grade six UIAA onsight
  • Regular climbing experience, at least once a week

Content and Objectives

The goal of this course is to learn lead climbing and belaying. The course will intensively cover the correct belaying method, lead climbing, and behavior during falls. We will also address the specifics of different belay devices.

The course consists of three sessions. To achieve the training goal of safely lead climbing, participation in all three sessions is mandatory.

Rock Climbing Level 6 - Climbing at the Limit

Target Group and Prerequisites

Have you been stuck at a certain difficulty level for a while and can't seem to progress? Then this course might be just what you need.

Prerequisites

  • Plateau between the 7th and 8th UIAA grade
  • Motivation to create a training plan
  • Willingness to focus on strength training, not just climbing
  • Regular climbing, no bouldering!
  • Proficiency in lead climbing and belaying

Content and Objectives

The goal of this course is to identify your weaknesses and work on improving them. In addition to introducing climbing-specific strength exercises, we will create a personalized training plan that suits your individual needs.

We will also deepen your existing climbing technique and focus on how proper projecting can help you climb harder.
