From May 18, the individual water sports will again be able to be practiced on the Rursee. Access to the Wildenhof is only permitted to sportspeople who have booked sport course or have a single date booking in addition to their sports authorization card, as the total number of people present per day is limited, so that infections can be tracked in case of emergency. We ask all athletes to leave the water sports facility as quickly as possible after completion of their sporting activity.

Materials

You need swimwear and sunscreen. Because the entry point at the Rursee is natural and has sharp edges, we recommend shoes suitable for water sports, such as bathing shoes, surf shoes, or old sneakers.

Special Participation Requirements

To participate in this course you must be able to swim. This must be confirmed before the course begins.

Links and Other Activities

The University Sports Center also offers an excursion to Ijsselmeer. You can also sign up on the surfing mailing list for other news, carpools, and tips and tricks for wind surfing.
The HSZ is looking for dedicated instructors for all surf sport activities such as surfing courses and water sport recreation.

Target Group and Requirements

No prior knowledge is required for this course. Participation is open to students and university staff. All participants must have the swimming skills equivalent to the "Freischwimmer" certificate. These skills will be tested at the beginning of the course. If swimming proficiency is insufficient, exclusion from the course will be necessary for safety reasons.

Course Content and Objectives

The practical part of this course covers transporting wing equipment, starting, steering, and turning maneuvers. These fundamentals will be taught using windsurf boards with centerboards or SUP boards and inflatable wings. Hydrofoils are explicitly not available. Participants will learn how to assemble and disassemble the equipment, become familiar with key terminology related to wingsurfing, and receive safety instructions for wingsurfing in general and specifically on Lake Rursee.

The course offers the opportunity to gain initial experience with wing or surfwing in just one day. The goal is to master the first rides and maneuvers with the wing.

However, there is also the option to book two consecutive days, i.e., Saturday and Sunday. In this case, the content from the first day will be deepened and expanded on the following day. Ideally, participants will then be able to return to the starting point independently and continue practicing individually in the future.
