Since 2023, the construction of the new Königshügel Sports Complex has marked a significant step toward a future-oriented and innovative university sports landscape in Aachen. During the construction phase, operations temporarily relocated to the temporary sports hall on the Königshügel football field.
The new Königshügel Sports Complex will not only serve as a venue for sports but also as a space for social interaction and community. The spacious main sports hall, which can be flexibly divided into up to three areas, provides optimal conditions for a wide range of indoor sports.
Complementing the offering are three additional course rooms on the upper floor, designed to better distribute and manage the sports course schedule. The service point of the University Sports Center will be centrally located in the entrance area, serving as a key contact point for all inquiries and information.
The University Sports Center (HSZ) looks forward with great anticipation to the upcoming developments and to further shaping Aachen’s university sports together with instructors and participants. The goal is to create a modern and vibrant space for sports, movement, and community where everyone feels welcome and safe.
The external construction work is now largely complete. Currently, work is underway at full speed to finalize the interior design of the modern sports hall. We are very excited to bring the new sports complex into operation soon!
