The University Sports Center (HSZ) cordially invites all students, staff, and interested members of the public to experience the diverse offerings of Aachen’s university sports firsthand. Under the motto “Trying is better than studying,” the day is all about actively giving things a try. While numerous booths representing a wide variety of sports invite visitors to participate on Königshügel, various introductory courses are also offered at the surrounding sports facilities.

The RWTH FH Sports Day also provides Aachen’s universities with a festive setting to celebrate their shared partnership. The RWTH FH Sports Day is sponsored by Sparkasse Aachen, which has accompanied and supported University Sports Aachen for many years. Stefan Schorn from Sparkasse Aachen is already looking forward to the event: “The day on Königshügel shows what matters in sports and society: demonstrating performance and fairness, living team spirit, and having lots of fun together. Sparkasse Aachen is very happy to support such community-building initiatives. It’s always a pleasure to see the enthusiastic response to all the participatory activities and to honor the winning teams of the Institute Olympics and the other tournaments at the end.”

Techniker Krankenkasse is also participating as a partner once again to highlight the importance of sports as a crucial step toward preventive health care and as a necessary balance to the stressful daily routine of student life. With this year’s Smoothie Bike, students get active and can then refuel with a freshly prepared smoothie. In addition, Techniker Krankenkasse is involved in other health initiatives throughout the year: “Together with the HSZ, our goal is to promote student health in a sustainable way.”

In addition to the wide-ranging introductory program, the tournaments in five sports form a central part of the event: badminton, beach volleyball, small-field soccer, tennis, and table tennis. Prior registration via the HSZ website is required for these competitions as well as for the popular Institute Olympics. At the Institute Olympics, students, staff, and professors compete against each other in mixed teams to strengthen team spirit through exciting competitions and get to know each other better in an entertaining way.

The day of sports begins for tournament participants as early as 10:00 a.m. The official portion of the RWTH FH Sports Day, featuring a total of 46 introductory activities and a stage program, starts at 2:00 p.m. At that time, the DIES Academicus also begins at RWTH, which means that no classes will be held, allowing the entire afternoon to be dedicated to sports. Further information and details about the program are available on the RWTH FH Sports Day website.
