Basketball Level 1

Target Group and Prerequisites

Interested individuals without any playing or training experience or with very little previous knowledge based on physical education class in school. Because the class content is successive, we recommend that you regularly attend.

Content and Objectives

  • Introduction to basketball and the most important rules and principles of the game.
  • Teaching individual, fundamental skills like dribbling and stopping with the ball; pivoting; changing directions; passing with chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes; catching; layups, and basic throwing technique
  • Fundamental elements of defense such as the basic position, shuffling, 1-to-1 defense, and the elements of offense such as postitions, tasks, and 1-2-2-positioning.
  • Training fitness overall and specific to basketball: core strength, coodination, endurance, speed, strength endurance, and jumping power

Basketball Level 2

Target Group and Prerequisites

Interested individuals with little playing or training experience, who have more or less mastered the fundamental basketball techniques from Level 1, and who are aware of the tactical fundamentals 1-to-1 defense, positioning, and the basic position.

Because the class content is successive, we recommend that you regularly attend.

Content and Objectives

  • Technical and tactical elements and game rules will be advanced and expanded to include other important elements.
  • Exercises and more complex game forms to improve basic techniques and expand skills to include individual, fundamental elements:
  • Dribbling with the left and right hand and in distress, body swerves
  • Passing with one and two hands, chest, overhead and bounce passes
  • Layups with the stronger and weaker hand, reverse layups, power moves, layups from a running approach without dribbling, rebounding, 1:1 offense and defense skills.
  • Fundamental group and team tactical skills for offensive and defensive play:
  • Running freely/clearing, blocking/screnning, active pick and roll, passive in and out, give and go, fast break, offense and defense in outnumbered and shorthanded play, advancing 1-to-1 defense, and introduction to zone defense
  • Training fitness specific to basketball: core strength, coodination, endurance, speed, muscular endurance, and jumping power

Basketball Level 3

Target Group and Prerequisites

Basketball players who can confidently apply basic techniques and know the tactical basic elements for individual and team play at the university and club level. Participants are required to possess motivation and good endurance and muscular endurance.

Players, who have taken the Level 2 courses till now, should have regularly participated and talk with the respective course instructor about the suitability of progressing to Level 3.

Content and Objectives

  • Improvement in individual offensive and defensive skills, particularly the fundamental techniques in game-like situations under pressure from opposing players and under physical stress.
  • Advanced individual, group, and team tacitical skills for offensive and defensive play. This includes pick and roll, transition offense and defense, helpside defense, the introduction of simply offensive automatisms and game systems, and the introduction of 3-2 zone defense.
  • Improvement in basketball-specific fitness: core strength, muscular endurance, jumping power and reactive force

Dates can be booked either all at once or individually. The booking option “All Dates” is available from the start of online booking for the course period and the booking option “Individual Date” is unlocked 24 hours before the start of the individual date.

Basketball Level 3

Basketball Games

Target Group and Prerequisites

The supervised indoor games are targeted towards basketball players of all levels. Due to the high demand the supervised games are offered in the evening and on the weekend. Registration is required. An instructor ensures the game runs smoothly.

Content and Objectives

No technical training takes place; these games are just about the fun of playing. The instructor assigns players to the three courts. Set up and take down are completed together.

Registration for Chargeable Course Operation

All offers are chargeable and require registration. Dates in the relevant course period can be booked either all at once or one at a time. Basketball Games Allwetterplatz

Target Group and Prerequisites

In order to participate in games at the Allwetterplatz Königshügel, you must purchase the Allwetterplatz card. The Allwetterplatz card is only valid in combination with a student ID or work ID and a picture ID and cannot be transferred to other individuals. Please note that we control participants' authorization during University events. If requested, you must show the Allwetterplatz card and your ID to our staff.

"Check in" Before Playing

Please check in directly with our service personnel in the hut at the entrance of the Allwetterplatz and show your permit without being asked.

Dates and Area Playability

The Allwetterplatz can be used for basketball games Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and additionally on Saturdays in summer by holders of the Allewetterplatz card as long as the area has not be reserved for special events, individual date bookings, or subscriptions. Reservations also take priority over the games. You can see when the space is booked in the booking plans.

Cost

The Allwetterplatz card costs 20.50 Euros. With the beginning of the winter semester, the price of the Allwetterplatz card will be reduced by 50 percent and it will cost 10.25 Euros.
