Due to the current developments around the spread of the Corona virus, as well as the recommendations of the relevant authorities, RWTH Aachen University is unfortunately forced to take further steps to contain the spread of the virus and help relieve the health services. Our aim hereby is to halt or at least slow the further spread of the virus as far as possible.

Consequently, the sport operations, subscription-based operations and rental and provision of sports facilities will be suspended from Monday , November 02, 2020. This applies without exception to all offers and programs of the University Sports Center, whether they take place in university facilities, city facilities or those of external partners.

This includes the closure of all sports halls, the cage-soccer facility, the all-weather and natural grass pitches, the RWTH Gym, and the Sauna, regardless of their sporting use and including the changing rooms and sanitary facilities.

The running track of the Königshügel stadium and Finnbahn remain open for the time being. Please note, however, that according to the corona protection ordinance only a maximum of two people may train together.

The date of resumption of operations and the start of registration for the 2020-2021 Winter Semester are dependent on future developments and will be communicated at short notice on the HSZ website. Please note, that the Service Point can currently only be contacted by phone, email or by prior arrangement.

These measures follow the recommendations of the Federal Ministry of Health, the Robert-Koch-Institute and the stipulations of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and crisis unit of the Städteregion Aachen.

The rectorate is aware that these measures will lead to a restriction of university life. It considers them necessary, however, and apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for your support.

Further up-to-date information on the approach of university administration can be found on the website of the university.
