5th Place for RWTH Eight at the European University Rowing Championships 2022 in Istanbul

For the first time since the COVID pandemic, the European University Rowing Championships were held from September 6 to 9. The championships were not held as part of the European University Games, but were hosted as a single event by Yeditepe University in Istanbul. University rowing teams from all over Europe competed against each other.


In the 1000m competition, the Aachen Eight Team was able to secure a place in the final in the 10-boat field with the fifth fastest time. On board were Anna Lülfing, Ben Goslich, Johannes Hackenbroch, Tim Bauerle, Lars Höpken, Maximilian Rawie, Sahib Kahlon, Vincent Schmitz, and Lauritz Kamphaus. For the final race, the Aachen rowing team with Aaron Crux started and rowed through the finish line as the fifth team. The rowing team from the University of Lyon enjoyed the first place.

The Aachen team is excited about their fifth place and the successful competition in Istanbul.
