20/11/2024

The RWTH Aachen University Sports Center (HSZ) kicked off the winter sports season in November with two action-packed events. The Snowevent on November 5 and the ALMA Snowevent on November 19 attracted numerous students and university members to the SnowWorld in Landgraaf. Both beginners and experienced ski and snowboard enthusiasts took part.

The snow event

A varied evening on the slopes awaited around 500 participants at the snow event on November 5. After traveling together by bus from Bendplatz or individually by car, the winter sports enthusiasts had four hours on the slopes at their disposal. SnowWorld Landgraaf offered winter sports fans a wide range of options with beginner and advanced slopes, as well as a fun park and a slalom station. The beginners' courses organized by the HSZ offered new skiers the opportunity to practice their first turns, while more experienced skiers refined their technique and learned new tricks in workshops. All courses were offered by the SNOW Sport Team Aachen. Everyone ended the evening together in the cozy ski bar.

The ALMA Snowevent

Two weeks later, on November 19, the ALMA Snowevent was on the agenda. The international event brought together students from the universities of Aachen, Liège, Maastricht and Hasselt/Diepenbeek. Around 800 students came together on the slopes at SnowWorld Landgraf. This cross-border event focused on international exchange: the courses and workshops were held in English to create a relaxed, intercultural atmosphere. Both beginners and advanced skiers were able to make new contacts and strengthen the sense of community during joint lessons on the slopes and the final get-together. Here too, the HSZ was actively supported by the SNOW Sport Team Aachen.

Extra tours and more

The University Sports Center is delighted with the successful opening of the winter season and invites all those interested to continue to take part in the numerous winter sports activities on offer, such as the extra tours and the regular ski and snowboard courses.
