Emotional Moments in the Königshügel Sports Hall

For decades, the sports hall complex at Königshügel was the heart of Aachen's university sports. Now, after 61 years, the hall is being demolished. A new building will be constructed on the same site. Beautiful and emotional moments took place in the hall. Friendships were made and competitions and championships were won.

Unique Mementos

But students, alumni and sports fans do not have to say goodbye completely. Parts of the gym's floor will be sold in the form of unique memorabilia for a good cause. A limited number of floor pieces have been cut, refurbished and set to a high-quality, laser-engraved backing board. These pieces are the perfect reminder of the Königshügel Sport Hall and your own college days. The floor pieces also make wonderful gifts for current or former fellow students.

Sale - Start on May 5th via Start Next

The number of floor pieces is limited, so it is worth being quick. The sale will start on the 5th of May via the platform Start Next. The link will be posted here soon. The whole project will run like a crowd funding campaign. As soon as a certain number of memorabilia, or a donation sum of at least 1,000€ is reached, the HSZ and the sports department of the RWTH Aachen will go into final production.

Start Next - Never Forget Sporthalle Königshügel

Donation to Right to Play

The proceeds of the campaign will be donated to the international organization "Right to Play". Under the motto "Every child has a right to play," this organization teaches children worldwide vital skills through play. This not only strengthens the children, but also the communities in which they live.

Project partner

The entire project is carried out jointly by the University Sports Center and the Sports Department. This small melange results in greater manpower and a strong team of motivated students and staff. The Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) also plays an enormously important role, because the carrier plates are engraved here. All in all, a real RWTH project for RWTH members and especially for Right to Play.
