You must purchase the tennis card to participate in unsupervised matches at the Professor-Pirlet-Straße tennis facility! Guests pay a higher fee. The tennis card is only valid in combination with a photo ID and cannot be transferred to other individuals. Please note, that we check the cards and IDs at all university sports events.

Playing Times and Court Rules

Opening Hours

The tennis courts at Professor-Pirlet-Straße are open daily during the summer semester from 8am to 9pm, and on the weekends and holidays as well from 9am to 9pm. The university's clay courts are not in operation during the winter semester. Thus we cannot offer unsupervised matches in the winter.

Check-In Before The Start of The Game

The tennis card for the courts on Tennis Facility Prof.-Pirlet-Str. is to be put into the "Check-In-Box" on the court before the start of the game and without being asked, so that the photo and name can be read. After the control by the sports supervisors and/or the supervision of the Check-In-Box, it is to be taken out again immediately and kept safe. The court reservation is made in consultation with the players by placing the game authorization in the free check-in box.

On the days listed below, the tennis facility will be closed for regular operations as scheduled:

RWTH FH SPORTS DAY

Order of Use and Organization of Court Changing

Players organize matches and court sharing themselves. In principle, the rotation on the courts during free play always takes place on the hour. To do this, you can "claim" each of the courts by placing your playing credentials in the free check-in box.

To keep the order of demands in case of a corresponding rush, at least one person must be continuously present on the corresponding court after registering with the previous players until the beginning of the own playing time.

In case not all the courts are occupied and a court is free, tennis card holders can begin to play without registering first. You must roll and water a court during your hour before handing it off to the next team.

The tennis card cannot be used for the Allwetterplatz!

Court Playability

All of the clay courts can be used for unsupervised matches by holders of the tennis card. However, courts 1, 2, and 6 are partially reserved for courses, individual appointments, and subscriptions. Courses and court reservations have priority over unsupervised matches. During the hours where nothing is being held, the courts can be used for unsupervised matches. The occupied times can be found in the court schedule.

Enter your address in the mailing list for facility closures to receive emails about when the tennis courts are closed. In case the courts are closed last minute, for example due to weather, you can call the sports supervisor at +49 151 14042585 to find out whether the courts are open.

You must adhere to the terms of use for the tennis courts!

Equipment and Shoes

To play on the clay courts at the tennis facility Professor-Pirlet-Straße in the summer semester, you must wear outdoor tennis shoes (clay court tennis shoes or all court tennis shoes). Sports shoes for other sports are not allowed.

Players who violate the shoe regulation will be excluded from use to protect the ash layer. Players will not receive a refund.

You must bring your own balls and racquets.

Costs

The tennis card costs 45 euros. There is a 50 percent reduction to the price of the tennis card seven weeks before the program of the summer semester ends.

The tennis card is valid for the entire summer season starting at the end of April/beginning of May to mid-October.
