Also known as modern dance, this type of dance developed in clear differentiation from classical ballet. Contemporary dance is characterized by the open form of dancing and less tight shapes and structures. Focus is placed on strengthening a sense for space, body, and music. Over the course of the course a choreography to current music will be learned.

Contemporary Level 1

Target Group and Prerequisites

This level is targeted towards participants who have little to no experience with contemporary dance.

Content and Objectives

Participants will work repeatedly on a warmup routine. Simple beginners' choreography for unexperienced dancers will be taught. The flow of movement will be improved and styles of movement typical to contemporary dance will be developed.

Target Group and Requirements

This level is targeted towards participants familiar with contemporary dance and its typical style of movement.

Content and Objectives

The warmup routine is further developed in this class and the learning tempo is faster. Quicker movement patterns with dynamic changes will be joined into longer combinations and challenging choreography. This class also trains for performances in front of an audience.
