For kayaking, the boathouse at Wildenhof in the Eifel, which is located directly on the Rursee, is available to us. You can train here at any time against this serene backdrop. Twice a week, you can play canoe polo at the Blausteinsee near Eschweiler. The kayaking group in Aachen also offers whitewater tours nearby.

Equipment

A number of boats are available at Wildenhof. At the moment, however, only whitewater boats and sea kayaks may be used.

Special Participation Requirements

In order to rent boats at Wildenhof during the summer, students and University employees can acquire an internal University canoeing permit. This can be obtained in the canoeing course. Swimming ability is required for all university sports canoeing programs.

Canoeing Level 1

Target Group and Requirements

This course is targeted towards anyone, who has little or no experience with canoeing and wants to acquire the canoeing permit for the Rursee.

Content and Objectives

This course covers initial paddling techniques as well as information about the equipment and rules while out on the water.

Particularities

Courses are held at the Wassersportstätte Wildenhof at Rursee. The 45 Euro-course fee includes the rental permit for the entire summer. It costs 20 Euros per season to renew the canoeing permit.

Target Group and Requirements

This course is for those who have completed the Level 1 course on the Rursee and want their first experience on a river.

Content and Goals

In this course, the Rur is navigated from Heimbach to Obermaubach.

Particularities

The navigation fee for the Rur is included in the registration price.

Semester Card

Target Group and Requirements

All students and University staff can acquire a University kayaking permit to use the kayak's groups kayaks and canoes at Rursee during the summer. Basic kayaking techniques are taught in courses. Minors must submit a written consent form from their guardian before participating in the University Sports Center's offer.

Particularities

The Kayaking Permit can be renewed from the beginning of April via the website of the HSZ. The Kayaking Permit can then be taken to be stamped in the secretariat of the HSZ or at the Manager of the Wildenhof.

Access to the Wildenhof is only permitted to sportspeople who have booked sport course or have a single date booking in addition to their sports authorization card.

The rental terms must be observed. In case of violation of the rental terms the university kayaking permit will be confiscated. Inspections are carried out regularly.

There is a 50 percent reduction to the price of the kayaking card seven weeks before the new sports program begins.

Eskimo Rolls

Target and Requirements

Anyone who wants to learn the various versions of the Eskimo roll.

Contents and Aims

The Eskimo roll is a technique that makes it possible to turn upright again without getting out of the kayak after capsizing. The course objective is achieved when participants have mastered the Eskimo roll on both sides. It is also possible to learn the hand roll. The training can also be used to reduce anxiety or further optimize technique. Of course, the training pool is also available for individual training.

Particularities

The appointments are offered as individual bookings in order to achieve the desired success. Participation is therefore possible according to individual needs and spontaneously.
