Content and Goals
The relaxation technique Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) was developed by the physician Edmund Jacobson about a hundred years ago. He recognized the connection between psychological tension and muscle tension. By consciously contracting and relaxing different muscle groups, muscle tension is reduced while simultaneously improving the psychological state. As a systematic muscle relaxation training, PMR promotes body awareness. The technique is easy to learn, can be effortlessly applied in everyday situations, enhances self-perception, and fosters mindfulness.
What makes this course special is the combination of progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) with the principle of mindfulness.
