Fitness Training Cards

Important requirement

A requirement for booking a fitness training card is participation in an introductory course or lateral entry course.

A booking confirmation for a qualification course must be presented aftera training break. If this is no longer available, a new visit to an entry-level course is required.

The fitness training cards are valid from the first date of the chosen time period. The start date must be set manually during booking.

Different Fitness Training Cards

Basically, you can choose between a normal fitness training card, which is valid during opening hours, or an early training card. The 12-month Fitness Training Card fee will be charged in two installments.

Training Times for the Early Training Card

The training times for the early training card are restricted to the following times within the opening hours:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday, Sunday, Holidays
7am to 4pm 7am to 4pm 7am to 4pm 7am to 4pm 7am to 4pm all day

The last check-in with the early training card during the week is set at 3 PM.

Authorization Card

After completing the introductory class of a course participants will receive an authorization card. This card is laminated to the back of the booked fitness training card and given to the individual. Please always keep your last card to provide documentation of your authorization. When you rebook the fitness training card, bring your authorization card to the first training.

Fitness training cards: Duration, Cancellation, and Suspension

The authorization for use expires at the end of the term and does not require active termination.

Cancellation of the fitness training card is only possible under exceptional circumstances:

  • Permanent incapacity for sports with proof provided by a medical certificate
  • Relocation with proof of change of residence, with the distance to the RWTH GYM exceeding 60 kilometers

A suspension of the term can occur under the following conditions:

  • Temporary incapacity for sports with proof provided by a medical certificate
  • Semester abroad with proof provided by a certificate of stay abroad
  • Internship with proof provided by an internship agreement

Terms of Use

The day pass is valid only for the calendar day on which it is booked.

Please note the adjusted opening hours on public holidays.

The opening hours on public holidays will be published on the RWTH GYM website.

Training areas that are reserved for course offerings cannot be used for free training.

Staff members are authorized to deny access to the RWTH GYM if the points listed under "Mandatory Items to Bring for Training" are not adhered to.

Eligible Users

  • Students
  • Staff of RWTH Aachen University and FH Aachen
  • Guests and external individuals do not have access to the RWTH GYM

Mandatory Items to Bring for Training

  1. Registration confirmation sent via email
  2. Student or employee ID card
  3. Clean sports shoes
  4. Sports clothing
  5. Clean towel
  6. Plastic or metal drinking bottle
  7. Large padlock for securing personal belongings

Small fitness etiquette

  • Cardio machines must be cleaned after use.
  • Please clear equipment between sets.
  • Return dumbbells, plates, and small items after use.
  • Do not reserve equipment with a towel.
  • Use racks appropriately as demand is very high.

Cancellation Policy

A refund of the pass fee is not possible.

Disclaimer

By booking a day pass, participants explicitly declare their agreement to waive an introduction to the use of equipment and exercises. Training takes place at one's own risk. It is expressly pointed out that using training equipment without prior instruction carries a significant risk of injury. In case of damage resulting from improper use of training equipment, the university sports center is exempt from any liability for resulting injuries or damages. Each participant is responsible for informing themselves about the proper handling of the equipment before use and should seek instruction from staff in case of uncertainties. The university sports center at RWTH Aachen is not liable for damages arising from unauthorized use without instruction unless there has been a breach of duty of care by the operator.
