Running, jumping, throwing. This program teaches the fundamentals of athletics. In addition to the classic disciplines, coordination, technical training, and conditioning are the main focus. Through this varied training, athletic fitness and motor skills are effectively promoted.

Notes regarding the interim sports hall

We kindly ask for your understanding that due to the extraordinary temporary interim situation, the usual room climate cannot always be guaranteed.

Material

We recommend wearing good and appropriate running shoes and suitable clothing for all weather conditions in the stadium. In the gym, clean indoor shoes should be worn.

Athletics Level 1

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is aimed at athletes with little or no experience in athletics.

Content and Goals

The goal is to acquire and train the fundamental skills of athletics. The training blocks focus on sprinting, jumping, and throwing. Each discipline will be learned from the ground up and deepened in technique over the weeks. The course trains speed, strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination, with an emphasis on the correct execution of movements.

Disciplines

  • Short sprints from 30 meters to 200 meters, hurdles, and relay races
  • Long jump, high jump, and triple jump
  • Javelin throw, discus throw, and shot put

Note

The content differs between the summer and winter semesters:

  • In summer, training takes place on the track and grass. There are no high jump facilities.
  • In winter, training occurs indoors with substitute equipment for throwing disciplines.

Special Features

The meeting point at Ludwig-Kuhnen Stadium is by the containers. The changing rooms can only be used to a limited extent. Please wear suitable running shoes.

In winter, please wear clean indoor shoes that should be changed into in the changing room beforehand.

Regular participation is recommended.

Athletics Basic Training Level 1

Athletics Level 2

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is aimed at athletes with prior experience in a club or participants who have completed Level 1.

Content and Goals

The goal is to deepen the techniques of the disciplines and train more intensively. The training blocks focus on sprinting, jumping, and throwing. The training becomes more extensive and demanding due to the prior experiences of the participants. The course trains speed, strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination.

Disciplines

  • Short sprints from 30 meters to 200 meters, hurdles, and relay races
  • Long jump, high jump, and triple jump
  • Javelin throw, discus throw, and shot put
  • Long sprints up to 400 meters and endurance events starting from 800 meters

Athletics Basic Training Level 2

Athletics Training Get-Together

Target Group and Prerequisites

This course is open to all athletes who want to enhance their athletic fitness through additional training.

Content and Goals

This additional training session focuses on improving athletic fitness. The aim is to enhance the skills acquired in the athletics courses and serve as supplementary training for other sports. Training will be conducted together and partially in groups tailored to individual goals. Sprinters will do short sprints, runners will cover longer distances, throwers will engage in strength training, etc.

Training Content

  • Joint warm-up and concluding strength training
  • Sprints, pyramid sprints, interval runs, endurance runs, relay games
  • Jump training, plyometric training
  • Hurdle drills, shot put exercises, medicine ball workouts, sprint sleds

Special Features

Meeting Point

The meeting point at Königshügel Stadium is in front of the bike racks. Please wear sports clothing and appropriate footwear from the first session. The changing rooms can only be used to a limited extent. Regular participation is recommended.
