Senior fitness is a health offering suitable for those just beginning to work on their fitness and those getting back into it. University Sports offers various movement classes in the gym and in the pool that are always adapted to the target group. The course offers not only a chance to get physical activity but also to enjoy time together at University Sports

Notes regarding the interim sports hall

We kindly ask for your understanding that due to the extraordinary temporary interim situation, the usual room climate cannot always be guaranteed.

Equipment

To participate in the courses offered in the gym you must bring a separate, clean pair of gym shoes.

Special Participation Requirements

The senior fitness classes are primarily intended for the senior citizens participating in RWTH's studies for senior citizens.

Employees additionally need the employee card and guests the guest card.

Active Course for Seniors

Target Group and Requirements

This class is targeted towards middle aged and older adults, who are interested in starting to work out or are already active. if you have a chronic disease, please contact the University Sports Center before registering for the course.

Content and Goals

Through targeted training it is possible to see performance improvements in strength, endurance, coordination, and mobility, even in old age. Targeted gymnastics exercises can prevent or reduce complaints and improve overall performance ability. The content of this course includes a short warm up phase and then target focus on mobility and strength and motor function. The most important component is enjoying moving your body. Participants are offered a diverse program with valuable tips and exercises for home, recreation, and vacation.

Functional Gymnastics for Seniors

Target Group and Requirements

This offer is targeted towards middle-aged and older adults, who are interested in starting to work out or are already active. if you have a chronic disease, please contact the University Sports Center before registering for the course.

Content and Goals

The objective of this offer is to train your own awareness of movement. Functional gymnastics can help improve posture and mobility as well as strengthen core and spine muscles. Exercises will vary depending on participants' niveaus and needs. The intensity is adapated to their age as well. Those, who regularly exercises, will maintain their mobility.
